For so many years Trader Joe's has been the go to place to find healthy food at great prices and who can deny they have pretty awesome snacks ( blue chips and 5 layered guacamole dip anyone?! ). Here's the thing, Trader Joe's is a one stop shopping destination for all those who are health conscious but for those who are not too concerned with getting the best price for organic goods, this is still for you.
In my addiction to beauty I've discovered through recommendations what this popular food chain brand has to offer and IT IS buzz worthy. My fave products from Trader Joe's are not only beauty must haves, they can be used for multiple use! Thank me later for helping to cut down your beauty expenses. NOW allow me to introduce my four beauty products that I love from Trader Joe's.
1. Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil has been a game changer in my beauty routine. I apply it to my hair, I use it as a moisturizer and every now and then I may take a table spoon or two for health purposes( to maintain healthy digestion) . What coconut oil has to offer for your hair is amazing. It strengthens hair follicles, promotes hair growth and adds shine. If you are trying to repair damaged hair caused by hot tools or chemical treatments ( relaxers or hair dyes) you should add this product to your routine. Hair is made up of protein filament ( a long chain of protein) and when dying or using chemical treatments your hair begins to lose protein hence hair loss/ breakage. Coconut Oil helps to reduce the loss of protein and maintaining a healthy head of hair. I would suggest using it when your hair is wet so it can penetrate into the hair shafts. How much you use on your hair depends on your hair type, so if you have oily hair just use a small amount through out your hair.
As I mentioned before coconut oil can be used on your skin as well. It acts as a great anti-aging treatment for the entire body. The properties (antioxidants) of coconut oil help to prevent wrinkling of the skin, flaking and sagging. When used after a shower coconut oil is a great moisturizer, as it penetrates into the epidermis (first layer of the skin) it maintains hydration through out the day and if used consistently you will see a difference in the texture of your skin. I wouldn't recommend it as a face moisturizer as it may be too rich especially if you have normal or oily skin; however, it is excellent to use as a body moisturizer.
2. Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is another great product that you can use for multiple use. It acts as a makeup remover, moisturizer and like coconut oil adds shine to your hair ( use on dry hair). Jojoba oil is great for acne prone skin because of its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Instead of using harsh acne treatments use this oil to get rid or prevent breakouts. For those of you who have oily skin.... THIS IS FOR YOU TOO!! I know you may be worried that this will cause you to look even more "dewy" than usual but honestly you have nothing to worry about . Our skin has a gland called the sebaceous gland that produces an oil called sebum ( the skins natural oil ), jojoba oil mimics sebum and assist in maintaining the balance of the skin's natural secretion of oil. If you have oily skin you have a greater chance of getting less fine lines because your skin is well hydrated , so embrace it!!
Jojoba Oil can also be used as a makeup remover. If you are struggling to remove waterproof eyeliners and mascaras even lip stains, they do not stand a chance with jojoba oil. Not only will it remove stubborn makeup it will also condition the lashes , promoting lash growth. You can take a small amount of oil and rub it all over your face. Use it all over your face to remove all makeup and then wash it off with your favorite cleanser. You're guaranteed to have a clean fresh face with no traces of makeup! Overall it's pretty good stuff. I like to call it the do it all must have beauty product and it has saved me tons of time in finding the right makeup remover that won't irritate or dry out my skin.
3. Lavender Salt Scrub
Heading into the colder seasons I like to find scrubs that will not only takes away that dull dry skin but to help moisturize as well. I have found (in my opinion) the best salt scrub ever at Trader Joe's! The Lavender Salt Scrub is A-MAZ-ING! It contains Apricot Kernel Oil which is beneficial to more mature skin as it promotes skin elasticity and suppleness. The Almond Oil contains antioxidants, the Green Tea Leaf has vitamins E, C and B. Green Tea Leaf acts as an anti-bacterial for the skin. In addition to these two ingredients, it has Avocado Oil. Avocado oil has a blend of vitamins A, C and E. This blend of vitamins help minimize the appearance of scarred skin and regenerates healthier looking skin. Last but not least it contains Lavender Oil which smells amazing and is so relaxing especially if used before bedtime ( I'm getting sleepy just thinking about it ).
3. Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil has become my new best friend for many reasons. For your skin you can use this oil as a spot treatment. If you need to get rid of that one ugly pimple that decided it wanted to ruin your day, take a small cotton swab and dab a small amount onto the pimple at night. When used as part of your nightly routine it will help to get rid of the pimple faster than you letting it get its 15 minutes of fame.... on your face ( insert sad face).
Tea Tree Oil can be used to fight BAD BREATH! Just swish some tea tree oil and water in your mouth and BOOM! you have fresh breath. Trust me those around you will appreciate it. Add a couple of drops in a cup of water, swish it around and spit it out. DO NOT SWALLOW IT!!! Why does it work? It acts as an antibacterial killing those stinky germs in your mouth. In addition, it can help with inflamed gums and plaque. With visits to the dentist and adding this trick in between you will have happy and healthy teeth and gums.
For those of you who suffer from dandruff. Add two to three drops into your shampoo. Tea tree oil helps to open pores and cure dandruff. You can get back to wearing black and become less self conscious about dusting flakes off your shoulder. Ok ladies, are you ready to read about the best reason to buy this oil? Get closer to the screen and read carefully. Have you ever needed to do number two at your boyfriend's house but wouldn't dare because you know it just stinks. Well here's a secret, drop a couple of drops into the toilet bowel before using the bathroom and tea tree oil will eliminate the odor! By the way ladies unless your boyfriend thinks that you are a mythical creature, he knows that you take poops like every other human being.
